Laozi 2

天下皆知美之為美，斯惡已。皆知善之為善，斯不善已。故有無相生，難易相成，長短相形，高下相傾，音聲相和，前後相隨；

是以聖人處無為之事，行不言之教，萬物作 焉而不辭；生而不有，為而不恃，功成而弗 居；夫唯弗居，是以不去。

天下皆知美之为美，斯恶矣。皆知善之为善，斯不善矣。
tiān xià jiē zhī měi zhī wéi měi, sī è yǐ. jiē zhī shàn zhī wéi shàn, sī bù shàn yǐ.
有无相生，难易相成，长短相形，高下相倾，音声相和，前后相随。
gù yŏu wú xiāng shēng, nán yì xiāng chéng, cháng duǎn xiāng xíng, gāo xià xiāng qīng, yīn shēng xiāng hé, qián hòu xiāng suí.
是以圣人处无为之事，行不言之教。
shì yǐ shèng rén chù wú wéi zhī shì， xíng bù yán zhī jiào。

万物作焉而不辞，生而 不有，为而不恃，功成而不居。

wàn wù zuò yān ér bù cí， shēng ér bù yǒu， wéi ér bù shì，gōng chéng ér fú jū。

夫唯不居，是以不去。

fū wéi fú jū，shì yǐ bù qù。

If everybody in the world knows about the beautiful in its effect as beauty, then everybody knows about the ugly as well; if everybody knows about the good in its effect as goodness, then everybody knows about the evil as well.Therefore: being and nothingness generate each other, heaviness and lightness complete each other. Length and shortness mould each other, height and depth lean towards each other. Sound and voice harmonize each other, before and after follow each other!

Hence, in all affairs, wise men act without interfering and they teach without words. All beings thus arise - without being controlled. They emerge without possessing anything, they accomplish their tasks without taking any credit. Only because they do not accumulate anything, they have nothing to lose.
